The art of attracting more of what you want and less of what you don’t want, is a good way to describe it. To many, it is a force that is unmeasurable, unseen, and beyond the means of scientific proof. It is a law that surrounds every single thought, action, or output of energy. It’s a law that governs all that happens in this world, whether we believe it or not, or even recognize it’s presence. It determines the results you are experiencing at this very moment.
Again I would like to recommend a documentary called “The Secret.” If you haven’t watched it, get it. It will change your perspective on everything you have accomplished up to this point in your life.
Let me give you a background of what this law consists of and how it works. Everything in existence is made up of matter. Matter is made up of smaller particles, atoms. What are atoms? They are basically energy. All matter is energy. If we are energy, what effect do we have on everything that surrounds us and ultimately, all other forms of energy? Newton’s third law of motion states, “For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.” It didn’t specify what type of action, just an action. Is having a thought, an action. I believe so. Thought, in my opinion, is the most powerful source of energy in existence. We all remember the saying, “Whatever the mind of a man can conceive and believe it can achieve.” Before the action, comes the thought. Without the thought, there is no action. It doesn’t exist!
Thought energy can be measured as either positive or negative. Just as light and darkness cannot coexist, the same is true for positive and negative thought. They repel each other. Thus, you can only put out either positive or negative vibration, not both at the same time. The Law of Attraction responds to the type of energy you feed it. It is said that whatever type of energy you put out, it will return to you with more of the same. The Law of Attraction gives you more of what you put out, thus attracting either positive or negative experiences in your life. It has no favorites and only responds to what you feed it by giving you more of the same. So, whatever you have in your life at this point, you have attracted it through your thoughts and actions. If you concentrate your focus and energy towards a specific goal or possession for a long enough period of time, it will eventually present itself in a physical form, either by opportunity or a manifestation of the exact thing you were focussed on. But, you must be ready and observant, and be willing to take the actions towards obtaining it.
I am in the Personal Development industry and have been for a few years now. The Law of Attraction is not a new thing. It has been used by many great men and women who have accomplished much in their lifetime. It is a law than many understood, possibly ranging back to the early civilizations in time. It is a law that was used to gain power over others in the past. Many of the great rulers of the world may have known it. Binaural beats and positive messages are sometimes enough. But, as you know, if you are putting frosting on a mildewed cake, or painting a boat full of dry rot, you are not going to have a good result.
Why Binaural Beats and Positive Messages are Not Enough
I am a strong advocate of binaural beats and positive messages. Binaural beats allow the user to access the subconscious where all your negative messages are stored and from whose programs you re-act. This is the part of the mind that is millions of times stronger than your conscious mind. This is where you want these messages to be absorbed.
Why then, do I say that it is not enough? Because sometimes you’re adding a positive new message but not changing the negative messages that you have hidden.
No matter how much frosting you put on a moldy cake, you still have a moldy cake underneath. You can wash and wash a rotten apple, and you still have no more than a clean rotten apple.
How Will I Know if My Apple is Rotten?
Use the binaural beats and the positive messages as I have done. If it changes your outlook on life and you find that the guy who cuts you off in traffic isn’t raising your adrenaline level, then it’s helping. When your partner’s criticism no longer affects your self esteem, but makes you realize that s/he is upset then this may be all you have to do.
If things aren’t quickly improving for you, then you might have to do some surgery to remove the rotten or moldy bits. This is what the clearing programs are for.

As he explains, we start to fill our data memory banks (our subconscious) as children, and it is filled with every bit of garbage we ever hear. “Don’t do that, you’re not big enough.” “Don’t try that, you’ll fall.” “That’s too dangerous.” “You’re being unreasonable.” “You need to study more.” “The world is hard. You will never get anywhere unless you’re on top.” “You have to be more competitive.”
Do you see that all these messages, although well meaning, are going to have the effect of stopping you from doing what your inner guidance system is encouraging you to do. They all separate you from your own intuition and higher mind. They make you dependent on someone who (although loving and kind) has no idea what your soul’s purpose was when you incarnated.
Ho’oponopono is a simple solution. You send a prayer via your higher mind to Divinity/Source/God/Creator, in the following form. “Divinity, please take whatever program of mine, or any of my relatives or ancestors back to the beginning of time, is causing this _______ to occur/stop my progress, and burn it in the light. Thank you. It is done.”
Oh, I almost forgot. Here’s the thing. Don’t ask “If there is a program in me…” The program is ALWAYS in YOU. Ho’oponopono requires that you take 100% responsibility for everything that occurs in your life. — As Dr Hew Len asks, “Did you ever see a therapist who had healthy clients?”
2. The Sedona Method
The Sedona Method was developed by Lester Levenson and is now taught by Hale Dwoskin. They offer both live conferences and trainings and CD training. They emphasize that any emotion that is not peace or love, is to be cleared away. When we hold on, even to good emotions, we stop our progress and prevent access to our Source. All these other emotions keep us stuck in the 3rd dimension, in space/time and in our egoic minds.
So, as Dr. Hew Len would concur, “Clear, clear, clear and go back to port (where you were at birth).”
3. The Work
The Work was originated and is still taught by Byron Katie. The Work consists of 5 questions and worksheets, to help you explore every negative feeling that you have. You don’t like your neighbor, do the Work. You have a gripe with your partner or your boss, do the Work.
Consistent use of the Work will help you to clear away all the old programming that caused these negative responses to life events or to the people in your life.

Being positive and expecting positivity begins with choosing positivity and getting rid of your negativity. When a person is struggling with a difficult task, such as starting a new business, it can be easy to fall into negativity because of the vast array of tasks that must be done. It’s easy to avoid tasks out of fear of failure or to expect failure at every turn. This must all be changed in order to embrace positivity.
Learning to act is largely learning how to react. The way you react to the things that happen to you is an important part of the process of learning the Law of Attraction. It takes practice to react in a way that is positive instead of reacting with anger, disappointment or fear. But by changing this reaction, a whole new world of positive beliefs and acts can be unlocked.
Daily Affirmations and the Law of Attraction
Repeating daily affirmations to gain confidence and a positive outlook is a way of introducing specific ideas into your life. To begin introducing these ideas, come up with some affirmations that encompass what you want for yourself. Create a few sentences that each cover one of your most central goals. Create a few more that give you the confidence you need to meet those goals.
Read these affirmations every morning and every night. The repetition of saying them will help you to introduce them into your life. By repeating them so often, you will begin to believe them. They will become mantras that give you power and confidence. Put your belief in all of them being true.

Reading and studying the Law of Attraction is uncovering many different tools and techniques that various practitioners and teachers reveal in their works. Some of these tools were mentioned in the movie The Secret. Others were not. Since each tool has pertinent information and resources around each one, an article series has been created to keep you abreast of new tools and techniques that I come across in my research. There’s always so much to learn and find out, so this series is being created for those who need a little more information and direction before they haul off into a frenzy of buying one tool after the next. The first tool I’m going to focus on in this article series is Visualization. This seems like an obvious one for most people, but it goes a little bit deeper then just being able to see a dream in your head. We can see a vision in our head, and unless it feels real, what we see isn’t going to manifest according to what we want to see physically. Why is this so? It’s because the Law of Attraction responds to feeling. How emotionally charged are you around your visualizations? Your perception is what’s going to have the most vivid and matching impact on your desire.What you visualize is totally up to you. It doesn’t have to be material. It can be world peace, an absolutely green planet, healthy children, a restored ozone layer, new developments in autism research. The sky is limitless. It only matters your perception; how you shape this reality that you are creating for yourself.
We forget how powerful the mind is and that the very chemicals that are released by our brains through thought and emotion are what causes certain things to happen. This is the reason you hear about the cancer patient whose unwavering faith in God helped their healing manifest. You hear the story of a young boy who is legally blind become an award winning wide receiver. This is the same reason you hear about the Miracle Man, whose bones were shattered in a plane crash, sentenced to life as a vegetable by the doctors, yet walked out of the hospital eight months later.
Visualization is a tool that is being activated through daydreaming or sitting down and writing out goals that you “see” for yourself. Another quite fun and effortless way to use the visualization too is to create a vision or dream board. Anything can be placed on this board from words, pictures of places and people, colorful shapes, houses, money, or virtually anything that makes you bubble over with excitement whenever you look at it. The key is to feel as if those items on your vision board you’re experiencing them now. It doesn’t really help to continue to visualize the future as “the future.” Literally see your future-self in the “now.” This is a key step to making the tool of visualization successfully work for you.
Proactively use your mind to put the pieces together that you want to see happen in your lifetime. Even if it doesn’t happen while you’re physically alive, by virtue of the Law of Attraction, it will happen. The Law of Attraction – 5 Common Stages

I have witnessed quite a number of people being exposed to the law of attraction for the first time. After awhile, I noticed that patterns seem to occur. There appear to be common stages which most people who embrace this knowledge go through when they newly discover, or shall I say “remember” this secret. Following is a description of this process. (Disclaimer: These are merely cautionary flags. YOU WRITE THE SCRIPT!)
1. Revelation
The “A-HA!” moment. For some, it is like discovering a new toy. For others, it is no less than realizing the meaning of Life – our purpose for being. It is as if the puzzle pieces collected during life suddenly fit together to reveal the face of God! “WOW, I GET IT!” There is a surge of energy which leaves the recipient gung-ho to use this seemingly new power.
2. Application
Here, the law of attraction is taken out for a spin. One considers how this law applies to the different areas of Life. He or she may attempt to manifest something at this point. There is a real weighing and sifting during this stage. One may discuss it with friends, try to obtain more information or witness it in the world around them. It is being assimilated into one’s belief system.
3. Limitation
As the old saying goes, “True Love begins when infatuation ends.” Really consider this! In regards to the law of attraction, there are various reasons why the excitement may begin to fade. After holding it up to the everyday light of their daily lives, the recently discovered template is then used to view the BIG picture. Many arrive at the conclusion that these “concepts” seem too outlandish to apply across the board. Fear, worry and doubt seem more reasonable. They hit a wall. This wall is your weak spot!
“These things go against my religion!”
“My grandmother absolutely loved life, but she still died of cancer!”
“If this is how Life REALLY works, why haven’t I heard this by now?”
Others fall out of infatuation because they are afraid of what seems like an overwhelming responsibility suddenly thrust upon them. “If I’m the one in charge, who can I blame?” Being a victim of circumstance is no longer an easy excuse. You can no longer rely on crutches. Then again, didn’t you come here to walk on your own?
Still, there is the real kicker! It happens after the law of attraction has had time to sink in. The initial celebratory days and nights of epiphanies, brought on by intoxicating revelations, are waning. Now it is time to clean house! This is an internal process by which one takes stock of what they truly believe. It can be very difficult and painful if you have spent an entire lifetime avoiding yourself. This task is typically avoided by proclaiming, “I was drunk with fantasy. Now, back to my bills.”
When the infatuation ends, you will begin to see whether you have faith. You will start to become aware of how much power you are consciously using, with mere glimpses of the staggering power which is available to you!
4. Residue
During this stage, it is incredibly important to remain aware! As one’s infatuation with the law of attraction mellows, residue from past thinking (karma) rears its head and manifests. These are the products of thoughts and feelings which were previously sent out into the world, before all of these wonderful new ones. I’ve heard it lamented over, and over again, “I don’t get it! I’ve been so positive since I’ve learned about the law of attraction. Why is all this bad stuff suddenly happening to me? I better stop all this wishful thinking. I’ve got REAL problems to deal with!”
Let’s use Katie as an example. To make this concept of residue easier to understand, we’ll imagine that Katie’s positive and negative phases come in one month intervals. January is positive, February is negative, March is positive, and so on.
Now, it’s the beginning of the year. Everything is going well for her in January. Money is abundant, relationships flow, and she feels healthy. February comes and she can’t understand why she’s running into “bad luck”. Money is tight, she feels separate from others, and she has a head cold. She put out so many good vibes in January, so why is February like this? I’ll tell you – it’s the shadowy remains of December!
December was a “negative” month. Katie reacted to events with fear, worry and doubt in December. So, as she was being cheerful and optimistic in January, the Universe was clumping together December’s negative vibrations to be delivered right to her doorstep as February’s experiences.
Soon February ends, and things start to turn around in March. Why has her situation improved in March? January’s positive thoughts and emotions become manifest! Of course, this “one month” illustration is completely hypothetical and simplistic. It has been used to convey how cycles relate to the law of attraction. This gives way to the next stage…
5. Awareness
Identifying cycles in Life is instinctual to every living being. From the Sun and Moon, to birth and death, cycles are an intrinsic part of consciousness. Have you ever noticed life seeming to go well, and then not so well, and then well again, as if coming in phases? We’ve all heard it referred to as, “the roller coaster of life.” Being aware, is to hold your hands in the air. ENJOY THE RIDE!!!
Let’s say the hardships of February arrive at Katie’s door, and she becomes aware of these cycles. She faces any difficulties with the knowledge that it is merely residue. Any unfavorable events she experiences, have manifested due to her past reactions to unfavorable events, which have manifested due to her past reactions to unfavorable events, which have manifested due to her past reactions to unfavorable events, and on, and on, and on.
She realizes that she has been living on autopilot. This entails manifesting on “default” mode as a seemingly unconscious victim of circumstance. “Forgive them Lord, for they know not what they do.” Let’s say that in February she continues to exude the optimism, love and joy that she felt in January. She realizes that worrying is praying for what you don’t want. She breaks the cycle by her resolute faith. She decrees that only good things come to her. SO BE IT!
Now, Katie is aware of her awareness. Her eyes have been washed clean! I believe this to be the Biblical reference to being born again, in order to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. The Kingdom of Heaven is happiness in the present moment. “Heaven is at hand!”
Exercise:
Begin to identify any stages that you may be encountering with the law of attraction. These may be stages I’ve listed or ones that are unique to your journey. Where are you in relation to when you first heard about it? Become aware of this process as it’s happening. Have you noticed the cycles of your Life? Remain particularly keen to the experiences occurring as a result of past thinking.
Choose a major area of your Life. Write down your HONEST beliefs about it. DON’T HOLD BACK! When finished, look at your list. Do you truly wish to manifest these beliefs as objects and events in your Life? This is extremely powerful! You are now an alchemist working with the divine chemicals of the Universe: desire, e-motion and thought.
One of the most powerful exercises for me has been to label unpleasant experiences as “residue”. If negative events take place, remind yourself that it is the result of former ways of reacting to your environment. Understand that to react to negative experiences with more negativity, is to keep the same old wheels turning. If you keep doing what you have always done, you will keep getting what you’ve always gotten.
Even if it seems daunting, face these illusionary hardships with steadfast faith. You shall break the cycle. The chains are invisible! They are in your head! Your power is in your reactions. Make a new choice. Choose to be free of those automatic responses to external stimuli. Become aware of the fact that you are consciously creating this Life. This is why you are here!
These precept remains at the core of EVERY lasting spiritual teaching, since the beginning of time:
KNOW THYSELF. AS ABOVE, SO BELOW. AS WITHIN, SO WITHOUT.

Now, Katie is aware of her awareness. Her eyes have been washed clean! I believe this to be the Biblical reference to being born again, in order to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. The Kingdom of Heaven is happiness in the present moment. “Heaven is at hand!”
Exercise:
Begin to identify any stages that you may be encountering with the law of attraction. These may be stages I’ve listed or ones that are unique to your journey. Where are you in relation to when you first heard about it? Become aware of this process as it’s happening. Have you noticed the cycles of your Life? Remain particularly keen to the experiences occurring as a result of past thinking.
Choose a major area of your Life. Write down your HONEST beliefs about it. DON’T HOLD BACK! When finished, look at your list. Do you truly wish to manifest these beliefs as objects and events in your Life? This is extremely powerful! You are now an alchemist working with the divine chemicals of the Universe: desire, e-motion and thought.
One of the most powerful exercises for me has been to label unpleasant experiences as “residue”. If negative events take place, remind yourself that it is the result of former ways of reacting to your environment. Understand that to react to negative experiences with more negativity, is to keep the same old wheels turning. If you keep doing what you have always done, you will keep getting what you’ve always gotten.
Even if it seems daunting, face these illusionary hardships with steadfast faith. You shall break the cycle. The chains are invisible! They are in your head! Your power is in your reactions. Make a new choice. Choose to be free of those automatic responses to external stimuli. Become aware of the fact that you are consciously creating this Life. This is why you are here!
