Facts About Ancient Kabbalah Teachings
Vanessa A. Doctor asked:
It comes to no surprise that kabbalah has been a major belief form for many individuals today. You can practically see a lot of Hollywood celebrities wearing red strings that many would often shrug off as a mere fashion statement. In truth, red string plays an integral role in a person’s belief in the Kabbalah teachings — it is considered as a tool for a positive and successful life.
What Is Kabbalah?
Kabbalah is a necessary part of Torah, or the Law of God, and with the meaning “what is handed down” or “received”. The teaching is considered to be a mystical component of Judaism, though not all of those who follow the religion accepted this in their teachings.
The concepts and truths of Kabbalah are passed down orally from the highest order of a religious order — specifically the priests, sages, prophets, and patriarchs. Kabbalah teaches us that everything under heaven and earth is created by God. Rather than thinking about God having a body or incarnations according to different religions, Kabbalah stress that God is the creator of everything — both the seen and unseen.
According to the Kabbalistic teachings, God made the world following the 10 processes of creations, or termed as sephirots (sephiroths). These are the will, wisdom, understanding, love or kindness, judgment or justice, harmony, victory, glory, foundation, and sovereignty.
Kabbalah And Man
Kabbalah believes that man will walk down the path of existence filled with the positive and negative forces that makes up the universe. Each man has its own potential that can be unlocked to the path of greatness, but this opportunity is blocked by the negative energies that surround us.
By living a life following the teachings of kabbalah, man can ultimately end up being an enlightened being — full of potential and ability that marks them for greatness. The only hindrance to this life is the negative energy emanated by external and internal forces. The red string is a popular kabbalah tool that shields a person from these negativities.
The Evil Eye is one of the sources of these negative energies — the bringer of bad luck and chaos in a man’s life. The best way to counter its devastating effects is to wear Kabbalistic Eye made of ceramic or crystal — usually in the form of jewelry — to negate its unwanted effects. These come in the form of bracelets, bangles, and necklaces. Lucky eyes will absorb any negative energy from beings with the Evil Eye.

Kabbalah – What Is It?
Bnei Baruch asked:
Is it a science, a religion, a teaching? Is it secret or evident? Is it something we can sense and evaluate? Is it outdated, or is it relevant in our time?
Kabbalah is a wisdom about the universe. However, it studies much more than the part of the universe that we perceive through our inborn five senses. Kabbalah explains that the universe is, in fact, much wider than what we perceive through our five senses. It teaches about that part of the universe that we currently don’t perceive.
Kabbalah explains how the universe began, how it develops, and how it will end. It studies the universe’s general structure and all of its particular details. This wisdom consists of several sections, all of which talk about the general law of the universe and how we can attain it.
If we break it into sections, then Kabbalah covers:
The creation of the entire universe and all of its levels: still, vegetative, animate, and human. The phases and the final goal of the entire evolutionary process, including man’s part in that process. The connection between our current state and the states we were in before we appeared on the Earth. The purpose of existing in a biological body for several decades and perceiving the surrounding world through the body and its five senses. Our state after we leave this world. Our reincarnations and the relationships between them. The way of evolving to a higher, spiritual form while living on earth.
Where Did the Authentic Kabbalah Come from?
The wisdom of Kabbalah appeared over five thousand years ago. Its roots go back to deep antiquity, the Sumerian-Akkadian period and the time of ancient Babylon. However, Kabbalah remained virtually hidden from humanity for millennia.
Despite the concealment, people have always been interested in it. Renowned scientists and philosophers the world over, including Newton, Leibniz, and Pico Della Mirandola investigated the wisdom of Kabbalah and attempted to understand it. Johannes Reuchlin, a humanist, classics scholar, and expert in ancient languages and traditions, writes in his book, De Arte Cabbalistica: “My teacher, Pythagoras, the father of philosophy, took his teaching from Kabbalists … He was the first to translate the word, Kabbalah, unknown to his contemporaries, to the Greek word philosophy…”
Yet, to this day, authentic Kabbalah is tainted with many misconceptions and misrepresentations, such as red strings, holy water, spells, miracles and whatnot. Evidently, only a few know what authentic Kabbalah is really about.
Therefore, one must first clarify what the wisdom of Kabbalah is. Kabbalist Yehuda Ashlag puts it this way in his article “The Essence of the Wisdom of Kabbalah:”
“…this wisdom is no more and no less, than a sequence of roots, which hang down by way of cause and consequence, in fixed, determined rules, interweaving to a single, exalted goal described as ‘the revelation of His Godliness to His creatures in this world.”
What does this mean? It’s saying that there is an Upper Force or the Creator, and there are forces that descend from Him to our world. We are here, in our world, and we are governed by these forces. They’re similar to the forces we are aware of, like gravity or electromagnetism. The only difference is that these forces are of a higher order, and they act while remaining hidden to us.
“The Creator” is the ultimate, all-inclusive force. He is the sum of all the forces in the universe and is the highest of all the governing forces. The Upper Forces descend from the Creator, going through phases called “spiritual worlds,” and finally they give rise to our world and man inside it. This constitutes the subject of the wisdom of Kabbalah.

Aia Laser asked:
Amulets and good luck charms have existed since the dawn of history. Their purpose was to provide emotional security for people, success in their endeavors – mainly hunting, war, success in growing crops, overcoming illnesses – and, essentially, any and every good thing a person could want for one’s family and oneself. The tribal healers or wizards gave out the amulets. With the development of urban settlement and the changes in the belief patterns and religions, this role was passed on to religious priests and, in effect, it is they and people possessing similar special attributes as well, who still deal with this today. As was said, the amulet provides the person with emotional help, which is meant to operate on a subliminal level. The kabbalah amulet solves the issues of a person’s lack of confidence on two levels: the first being a lack of belief in one’s abilities, and the second being a lack of knowledge regarding the future.
One can distinguish between overt amulets (which can be displayed) and hidden amulets (which cannot be displayed). Another way to distinguish among amulets would be the division between those designed for a person and those designed for a place (a home or place of business). These amulets could be uniform – where anyone may purchase the same amulet – or they could be personal amulets, which can be made to order (each one tailor-made according to a person’s needs) by people with special attributes who are privy to the secret of their preparation. Unlike the many claimants who openly declare their knowledge, there are a few, modest persons who are really privy to the secret of amulet making. A final distinction would be between a shaped amulet and a written amulet. Most of the amulets today are of the written type.
According to Kabbalah, the letters created the world.
This indeed is a sentence that seems logical and clear to us, since without verbal communication we are unable even to move from our place. The story of the Tower of Babel is a famous one – when work on the tower was halted and the people dispersed the moment each had his own language and all communication collapsed.
However, each letter possesses its own unique, powerful energy.
Combining letters, words and sentences gives power according to the position and content of the words or letters.
Finding the letters and the words, and constructing sentences suitable for the amulet’s purpose, is the important secret of its composition.
An amulet can be written on almost anything, but materials that endure over time and are impervious to environmental conditions are preferable. The main power of the Kabbalah amulet is drawn from its written contents, but the writing surface itself has a value of its own, even if a lesser one.
The texts used by the amulet writers are mainly those of the Holy Scriptures such as the Bible, with the emphasis being on sentences from the Torah (Five Books of Moses), though also from Psalms and other books, and the texts of various prayers as well. There are those who use words of a certain meaning relevant to a topic using direct methods of writing (copying the entire text), or indirect, such as writing a word composed of the first or last letters of an entire sentence. There are ways to write a sentence with all the words joined in order to keep the amulet incomprehensible to any person.
Because it was God who created human beings and the world as well, therefore the paths to the wisdom of creation are common to man and the world. As a result, these codes provide aid and assistance to the person when they are integrated into the amulet.
It can be said that choosing a word or a sentence is done according to the type and purpose of the amulet. The names of angels in charge of the spheres appropriate to the content and purpose of the amulet are added to many amulets.
Amulets also vary by the purpose they fulfil.
Kabbalah-Corner offers a wide range of Amulets that apply for:
